| The basic energy of all the living organism esp. human beings. Prana technically or scientifically means the Breath. And PRANAYAM means A particular orderly way to Breath, is practiced years together. For a better, healthy life of breathing in and breathing out. The yogic science defines"Prana" as the basic energy the booster of life or in other words the life itself. Life actually begins in the womb of the mother. But during that period it is totally dependent upon mothers breathing. That is "prana" it achieves its individuality on its own and that first 'Breath' is very important in many ways. We all are breathing continuously since birth but not consciously. If we make this continuous breathing conscious, as well we can be the self reservoir of this divine energy of "prana". So instead of going into the complicated terminology, We will give you the simpler definition of Pranayam. |

Breathing in an orderly manner consciously with certain rules and regulations. We are talking so much about the breathing. We will see what exactly happens to the lungs, when we breath we inhale the air containing everything that goes towards our lungs through our wind-pipe. In lungs their are many small areas where the air is intended to fill in. The lungs are like the balloons when we inspire, this balloons get enlarged (inflated) and when we exhale this is again collapsed (deflated). Our capacity of breathing and storage depends upon the good expansion and relaxation of lungs. But as we are talking and as we are breathing unconsciously and as the time passes we develop a certain habit and pattern of breathing that is faulty pattern in most of the people. This leaves many vital areas in our lungs Inactive, and we start facing problems like reduced capacity for work, Frequent infections like cough, headache, breathlessness etc. So if we inculcate certain habits and direct our respiration, we can utilize this so called 'dead-space' of the lungs and can therefore get much oxygen, oxygenated blood in greater proportions and can fight any disease and be in the whole mental and physical peace. So our ancient Gurus have given us the 'sanjeevani' of pranayama to live with, so that we can enjoy much better, healthy life. |

Dhyan |
| |
YOU EITHER CONTROL MIND OR MIND WILL CONTROL YOU. It is the seventh step in ashtangyoga. IN PDY we take DHAN i.e. meditation from the 7th day. we say it is PDY's internal sadhana. Concentration of mind and heart is the two major sections of Dhyan. The main aim of PDY is developing the inner concentration and increasing our physical and spiritual POWER. Concentration on your breath and mind, and when this continuity increases it is called dhyan. Only when you get internal peace then the world is very nice, the people whom you meet daily are very beautiful, in short your angle to look at the world changes. You can capture shadripu i.e. Kam , krod, lobha, master & one stage comes when you are calm even if any one fires at you or any one says praises to you. Due to Dhyan many diabetic patients have got the control on diabetics, asthma etc.
